In 1990, Rich became one of the first CPAs in Massachusetts to earn the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation, established for CPAs who specialize in personal financial planning and awarded exclusively to members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants who have demonstrated considerable experience and expertise in that area. In his younger days, he spent seven weeks bicycling cross-country from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Community service is also important to Rich, having been involved with several volunteer nonprofit organizations, including the Jimmy Fund, Jewish Geriatric Services Inc. and many other community agencies.
