Taylor Payne

T. Taylor Payne, CPA/PFS, CFP®

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Taylor’s strong background in finance and his even stronger desire to help others came to a crossroads in 1989 when he started his own business Payne Wealth Partners, now United Capital Evansville.

A Columbia, Mo., native, Taylor graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, with a major in accounting, from the University of Missouri in 1975. He worked at the CPA firm Deloitte and Touche in St. Louis and later as vice president of finance at Black Beauty Coal before making the life-changing decision to start his own business.

Taylor started the company by going down a very non-traditional route: Looking at planning and investing from a client’s perspective. He spent the early years trying to convince the marketplace that Payne Wealth Partners was worth hiring, that a true fiduciary planning function along with investment management was vital to the client. The hard work has paid off.

“Today people are searching for the experienced financial planner who serves as a fiduciary, putting the client’s best interests first 100% of the time,” Taylor said.

Taylor received his Certified Public Accountant certification in 1979 and his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER designation in 1991. He has also earned the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation, which indicates expertise in the personal financial planning area of the public accounting profession. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Taylor’s desire to help others isn’t limited to his client base — he has been involved in many organizations in the Evansville community including the boards of the Ronald McDonald House of the Ohio Valley and Evansville Country Club. He is a past member of the Evansville City Council and of the Area Planning Commission.

Taylor and wife Jenny are the parents of two daughters, Sarah and Laura, and three sons, Andrew, Ethan and Alex. In addition to spending time with his family, Taylor enjoys golf, hiking and reading.
