About Our Office

Our team believes in financial guidance. What this means to clients is that before any actions are implemented, a carefully constructed plan is put into place that accounts for clients’ current resources and future goals. Once this plan is crafted, the other components of our wealth counseling services are initiated. This may mean guidance on investment accounts, presenting various risk management solutions, and help implementing various wealth management strategies at the corporate level – whether it’s counseling on buy/sell agreements, defined benefit plans, or providing retirement planning services to key executives.

Financial Planning
Within a complete financial plan, United Capital pulls together all aspects of wealth – investments, taxes, retirement, education, philanthropy and family. We explore how our clients feel about their wealth, and what they want out of life for themselves and the people they care about. We then develop a plan that helps them meet their needs, achieve their goals and hopefully live their dreams. This process begins by looking at 41 specific metrics of an individual’s financial life and proceeds to conduct – to the metrics that apply – a goals-based gap analysis to determine the areas for improvement.

From portfolio re-balancing, to making an annual gift for college funding, to setting meetings to ensure that wills are updated – United Capital undertakes a systematic approach to address the areas that require attention. These actions steps are prioritized based on the need and frequency of the individual item, and is managed by the United Capital team, incorporating the other professionals of one’s financial team, when necessary.

In order to enhance the ability to provide ongoing guidance and monitoring, clients are given access to a personalized and secure website that gives them access to their entire financial picture. Included on the site is a virtual vault that has the capability to store items of your choice, as well as a method to directly share items with us. Our system updates account balances nightly and alerts us when something needs attention. Bottom line -United Capital looks out for what is most important to our clients.

Investment Advisory
United Capital has a planning-focused approach to investment management. Our investment strategies are custom-designed to help our clients meet their long-term financial goals. We do not try to outperform various benchmarks; we strive to meet client goals with the least amount of risk. We act objectively and independently and our due diligence process is extensive and ongoing. We are committed to screening, monitoring and hiring the best of investment managers. If a manager does not meet our standards, we terminate the relationship. We help clients develop an Investment Policy Statement, which is the foundation for all future investment decisions. It serves as a guidepost, identifies goals and creates a systematic review process. The Investment Policy Statement keeps us focused on long-term objectives during short-term swings in the market. It provides a baseline from which to measure investment performance of the overall portfolio, as well as the performance of individual money managers.

Individual Insurance
A sound financial plan is only sound if the proper protections are put in place. Throughout the financial planning process, United Capital works with clients to identify risks that could get in the way of achieving their goals. We then develop creative insurance solutions to minimize those risks. We also work with our clients’ legal and tax advisors to provide customized insurance solutions in complex estate planning matters to facilitate inter-generational planning, help minimize tax liabilities and maximize benefits going to heirs.

Respected for his knowledge of current wealth management issues, Rob is frequently quoted by The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswire, contributes articles on wealth management topics to local, regional and national publications, and has been a frequent past guest on CNBC’s “Make Your Money Work” segment of their “Power Lunch” program. He has been repeatedly named to Medical Economics’ exclusive list of “The 150 Best Financial Advisors for Doctors” and in 2000 received the prestigious “Ticker Ace Advisor of the Year Award for Best Educator” presented annually by the industry renowned Ticker Magazine to one adviser throughout the entire country demonstrating superior proficiency and skill in client education.

Rob is the creator of The Wealth Empowerment Formula – a comprehensive wealth management client advice delivery system, and was formerly an adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University, where he taught the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER Professional Education curriculum.

Prior to joining United Capital Financial Advisors, Rob was a partner at Compu-Val Investments, Inc. in Wilmington, Delaware. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and completed a course in Leadership Excellence at the University of California at Berkley. He also completed the CFP® Professional Education Program and the Accredited Asset Management Specialist Program at the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado. He is an active member of The Financial Planning Association.

Vanessa is Director of Operations of United Capital of South Florida and is responsible for leading all aspects of the office's management. She brings over 10 years of experience within the financial services industry with a track record of growing business and streamlining operations. She has extensive experience operating a wealth management and financial planning practice. With her strong entrepreneurial spirit and comprehensive operations knowledge she is an asset to both our office and our clients.

Vanessa has worked with United Capital since 2007, and has been an integral part in the company’s growth. Vanessa formerly served as a relationship manager at Capital Planning Group where she assisted high-net-worth clients in the development and implementation of sophisticated and custom wealth management strategies.

Vanessa graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Financial Management. In her free time, Vanessa enjoys spending time with her two young children, reading, and traveling.

Adam holds the Florida Insurance License (FL-215) and securities licenses: Series 6, Series 7 and Series 65. He is actively involved with the National MS Society and is one of the founders of the MS Young Professionals group of South Florida.

He believes that the key to providing elite service is fundamentally understanding a client's unique circumstances and tailoring a comprehensive financial plan that may help them maintain their wealth and achieve their financial goals. He relies not only on his own knowledge and experiences but the expertise of his team of specialists with 50 combined years of experience.

He holds the Florida Insurance License (FL-215) and securities licenses: Series 6, Series 63 and Series 65. He is a member of the National MS Society and enjoys lending his time to Habitat for Humanity, and Take Stock in Children.

Holding true to his service philosophy, Greg remains available to address any client questions and requests directly.

Before joining United Capital, Greg spent more than two years working as a Financial Services Representative with John Hancock and is a graduate of Norwich University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a minor in Finance. He currently holds the Florida Life, Health and Variable Annuity Insurance Licenses and a Series 6 License.

Diego Morcillo started his career with United Capital in 2011, originally based out of our Dallas Hub as he was completing his Bachelor's Degree. He graduated from Dallas Baptist University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He is currently pursuing his CFP® certification, for which he has completed all education requirements. Diego has also holds his Insurance license.

Diego and his family moved to our South Florida office where he took on the role of Client Service Manager. He has a passion for helping people reach their financial goals and achieve financial security for their future.

Diego was born and raised in Argentina and moved to Texas for his post-secondary education. He remains dedicated to his wife and two small children and loves spending time with his family. Diego enjoys every sport there is, and has an enormous love for "fútbol" (soccer), for which he played semi-professionally in Argentina and Spain.

Anthony DeCoro

Marketing Specialist

In his role as Marketing Specialist, Anthony DeCoro is responsible for leading the office's new business initiatives as well as organizing and maximizing local and regional business development projects. In addition to spearheading marketing operations, Anthony is pursuing the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional designation as well as the Certified Exit Planner professional designation distinguishing individuals who have attained through study, testing and ongoing education, advanced expertise in Exit Planning. He has a passion for our clients and the industry as a whole and brings a fresh perspective to the often uninspired world of financial services.

Anthony holds the Florida Insurance License (FL-215), Investment Adviser Representative License, and received a BA from the University of South Carolina. He remains actively engaged in his community donating much of his time to causes near to him including Habitat for Humanity, Alzheimer's Association, and Emerge Broward.

While obtaining his undergraduate degree, Anthony held various writing and news editing positions with established publications including The State Newspaper and The Daily Gamecock, as well as holding several business development positions at start-ups including Sizzle, and Clean Slate Student Loan Forgiveness Program.

Luke Melms

Senior Relationship Manager

As Senior Relationship Manager, Luke focuses on getting to know our clients and building plans around their goals. Building relationships and setting goals within a team setting has always been always been a priority for Luke whether it has been in business or as an athlete. 

Prior to joining United Capital, Luke spent two years at Global View Capital Advisors and three years at PFS Investments. He currently holds a Series 65 Investment Advisor Representative License and Florida 2-15 Life and Health Insurance License. 

Luke graduated from Carroll University with a Bachelor's in Business Administration with a Finance emphasis and Accounting minor. He also played on the Carroll baseball team. Baseball remains a passion and enjoys taking in a game whenever he can.
